About
KERRI
I've always had a big imagination and creativity seems to run through my veins. Even when I'm not intentionally trying to be artistic my design instincts usually take over.
I'll be honest, my joy in cakes started with a love of all things sweet and tasty. I grew up watching my mum make many birthday, anniversary, Christmas, and wedding cakes for friends and family - she was quite infamous – and my sister and I would often get to lick the spoon clean or eat an off-cut of marzipan. My interests soon turned to the design and decoration, however, and I began to help my mum push the boundaries with her cake designs. I learnt so much over time and it wasn't long before I was taking on projects myself.
I spent a few years building my confidence, watching countless video tutorials, reading many cake books, and practising new techniques. Friends and family kept telling me “you've got to do this as a business” and so, with a lot of hard work and determination, I launched Brambleolai.
UPDATE: As much as I loved designing and decorating cakes, I realised it wasn't fulfilling all of my creative passions so I made the difficult but exciting decision to close Brambleolai and pursue a new venture: Kerri Awosile - art - writing - design. You can now find me creating bespoke watercolour artwork and illustrations, writing blog posts and short stories, designing wedding stationery and brand graphics. I've also got an increasing range of creative products for sale in my Shop.
